Submerged in Time

Hidden,  

beneath the waves. 

Submerged, 

between breaths. 

Living, 

in the time between seconds, 

a comfort, like being held. 


Deeper, 

My ears need to pop. 

Deeper, 

Goosebumps on my skin. 

Deeper, 

So time can never catch me. 


Pain, 

Inside my chest. 

numbs 

Pain from my heart. 


The moments, 

In between seconds, 

Cannot, last forever. 


Slowly, 

The surface approaches

Slowly 

My ears no longer ache. 

 

Too soon 

The pain in my chest subsides 

Too soon 

the pain in my heart returns 

Too soon. 

The seconds, slip away.

Generations' Song

Predetermined nouns I had to work with: (Clyde, Dani – New York – Radio, Gold, Umbrella)  “Generations’ Song”       It’s evening in Central Park. It’s quiet. It’s my favorite time to be here. It always has been. A time where the busy city almost stops to catch its breath. I’m sitting on a park bench nestled between two bright yellow and red Sugar Maples. A few yellow leaves dot the asphalt and grass beneath its reaching branches. It’s so perfect here. A few people walk some of the trails, and a hot dog vender is not too far off, but still, it’s quiet. The breeze rustles through the branches above me sending a few more leaves fluttering and dancing before they rest on the ground.       I remain on the park bench, lost in tranquility, watching as the yellow and red drizzle continues. 'Kunai' Teaser

  For anyone interested in what I've been working on, I present the prologue for my - hopefully - debut novel. Enjoy! Kunai Prologue Asha’s 11 th Birthday Asha stands over the body of her father. The blood on her hands quickly becoming sticky as she waits for him to strike her with heavy hands, just as he always would. A large kitchen knife stands erect from his chest with only the wooden handle visible, blood already seeping into the steel pins. She reaches out for the knife and pauses, holding her hand suspended above her father. Examining the sticky, drying blood, she turns her hand over and then over again. Slowly she turns off the gas lantern on the bedside table and drops her hand back at her side, her eyes falling once again on the knife. Pain pulses from between Asha’s legs and it takes everything she has left to remain still. She’d always been told about the monthly bleeds women get, the cramps that could come along with them.
